Circle plc announces an exclusive licensing deal
with FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide, the
licensing division of global production company,
FremantleMedia, to develop and publish interactive
DVD games based on the hit TV game shows
Blockbusters and The Price Is Right. Developed at
CiRCLE’s Derby Headquarters, both games have a
release date slated for November 6th 2006.
The Price Is Right is television’s longest
running and the nation’s most popular TV game show.
First launched in 1956 in the US, it continues to
capture whole new generations of fans and local
versions of the format have now been broadcast in 29
territories, testament to its enduring popularity.
The Price is Right interactive DVD game
follows the TV show’s classic format and is hosted
by Joe Pasquale, who has made all-new interactive
recordings specifically for the game. Featuring an
on-screen, interactive rendition of the UK TV set,
players really can ‘Come on Down’, take their place
on Contestants Row and battle it out in a series of
rounds to see who gets to their Showcase Showdown.
With up to 4 players, two different game types and
original elements from the TV show, The Price is
Right interactive DVD is a hilarious way for the
whole family to participate in the latest rendition
of the show.
Blockbusters was piloted in the UK in the
early 1980s and was the first show to run on British
television five times a week. The show ran for over
a decade and was a smash-hit with the student
population in particular. Several Blockbusters
quiz books have been published and a successful
board game was made in 1989.
The Blockbusters interactive DVD game allows
players at home to join enigmatic quizmaster, Bob
Holness, in a virtual re-creation of the cult TV
quiz. Following the format
of the original programme, teams/players compete to
make a row of letters across the Blockbusters
board by answering questions associated with the
letter picked. The first player to win two rounds
out of three will be invited to play the infamous
Gold Run!
