NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL A MUSIC QUIZ’ SELLS 300,000 UNITS IN 3 WEEKS!

CiRCLE’s ‘Now That’s What I Call A Music Quiz’ DVD game (released December 5th) is on track to sell in excess of 300,000 units pre-Christmas.

UK retail figures up to (and including) Saturday 17th December are reporting a cumulative total of 192,692 units. The game has since sold a further 30,783 units and is scheduled to sell another 120,000 copies before Christmas – making a total of over of 300, 000 during it’s first three weeks of release! The game topped Amazon’s Hot 100 DVD chart last week before selling out of stock; it currently resides at the number 2 position.

Developed by CiRCLE and marketed and distributed via Virgin, EMI and Universal, the chart-topping music quiz has been backed by a heavyweight marketing campaign including extensive TV advertising on prime time slots such as Who Wants to be a Millionaire, GMTV, Coronation Street and Record of the Year (Saturday December 10th). An extensive national PR campaign has also supported its release - with editorial and competitions featured in mainstream media such as the Sun-online, Smash Hits, TOTP magazine, Lads Mag, Woman's Own, Sugar and Bliss throughout November and December.

The game features advanced levels of interaction, single and multi-player modes and three different game-types: ‘Top 20’, ‘Top 40’ and ‘I-Spy’. Over 1500 questions are selected from five different musical decades and three difficulty levels. Tutorial commentary is provided by veteran DJ Mark Goodier and all content originates from Virgin, EMI and Universal’s vast catalogue of musical assets.

Questions are based on music video clips, album covers, pop culture and artist photographs; by answering correctly, players climb the virtual music charts on-screen - no pen or paper is required, just the DVD remote control. CiRCLE’s original programming also provides further interactivity via random elements and special challenge questions as players near the number one position.

The NOW Quiz title is CiRCLE’s first game to be released on the DVD game format; confirmed titles for the first quarter of 2006 include games based upon Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, Europsort , NBA and FIFA/FIFA World Cup.
