NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL A MUSIC QUIZ FLYING OFF
RETAIL SHELVES!
Date:
12.12.2005 Despite 150,000 units being shipped into
stores on its release date (December 5th), re-orders were placed for
CiRCLE’s first interactive DVD game before the week was out!
Marketed and distributed by Virgin/EMI/Universal, ‘Now That’s What I
Call A Music Quiz’ is literally flying off the shelves – and is
currently at number 4 on Amazon’’s Hot 100 UK DVD chart – beating Star
Wars Episode III and only just behind ‘Charlie and the Chocloate
Factory’!
The interactive DVD game has been backed by a heavyweight marketing
campaign including extensive TV advertising on prime time slots such as
‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’, GMTV, Coronation Street and Record of
the Year (Saturday December 10th). An extensive national PR campaign has
also supported its release - with editorial and competitions featured in
mainstream media such as the Sun-online, Smash Hits, TOTP magazine, Lads
Mag, Woman's Own, Sugar and Bliss throughout November and December.
‘The Now That’s What I Call A Music Quiz is a corker that will provide
enough entertainment to help you digest seven or eight pounds of dry
turkey and sprouts… ‘Now That’s What I Call A Music Quiz’ is finally a
music quiz worthy of the name’ says DVD Reviewer.
‘Now That’s What I Call Music‘ is the biggest compilation label in the
UK/US music business, having sold over 50 million copies worldwide.
CiRCLE’s collaboration with the label is an exclusive profit-sharing
agreement with the two ‘NOW’ partners: EMI and Universal Music.
The game itself features advanced interactive technology, single and
multi-player modes and three different game-types: ‘Top 20’, ‘Top 40’
and ‘I-Spy’. Over 1500 questions are selected from five different
musical decades and three difficulty levels. Tutorial commentary is
provided by veteran DJ Mark Goodier and all content originates from
Virgin, EMI and Universal’s vast catalogue of musical assets.
Questions are based on music video clips, album covers, pop culture and
artist photographs; by answering correctly, players climb the virtual
music charts on-screen - no pen or paper is required, just the DVD
remote control. CiRCLE’s original programming also provides further
interactivity via random elements and special challenge questions as
players near the number one position.
The title is CiRCLE’s first game to be released on the DVD game format;
confirmed titles for the first quarter of 2006 include games based upon
Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, Europsort , NBA and FIFA/FIFA World
Cup.
